Palm Springs Sleepover by Party Flair Creations

Lisa of Party Flair Creations gave her lucky daughter a sweet sleepover in Palm Springs.  Bringing together elements from many sources (including yours truly), her own banner and "party flair," she created the party of any 11 year-old girl's dreams!

Sugar Cookies from Lisa's friend, Julie, at Crazy 4 Cookies and Cupcakes.  Lisa made the banner, chocolate covered oreos and marshmallow pops.

Celebrating a one year Doodleversary

Today marks the one year anniversary of DoodleZ Designs.  Again, I'm so grateful to family and friends who were my first customers and helped me get started.  I've learned so much since last year.  This may not be the most profitable job I've ever had but it is, by far, the most gratifying.  And to top it off, I am totally blown away by how friendly, sweet and appreciative my customers have been.  Thank you for an outstanding first year!

100 Sales

Wow!  I just met my goal of hitting 100 sales before DoodleZ Designs' 1 year anniversary on July 9.  What a year it has been.  I plan to write again soon so I can go on and on about my gratitude to friends and family who helped me kick things off and the unbelievably appreciative, sweet and amazing customers I've had over the last 12 months.  Thank you!!!

Teacher Gift Idea

Akiko shared this idea for a small teacher gift that she found on Just a Girl.  Teachers say they go through gallons of hand sanitizer so you won't have to wonder if they'll use this one.  This is a really easy project to do at home.  Just make sure you have a product like Goo-gone to remove the sticky stuff left behind when you remove the sanitizer label.

A New Look for Summer

Baby Girl and I made a spur-of-the-moment visit to Snip-its yesterday.  (See earlier post Party Spot - Snip-its.)   We had both had enough of the daily battles between Mommy with the hairbrush and the little girl with the long, beautiful but matted hair.

We were happy to learn that we could cut enough length to donate to charity.   Locks of Love states on their Web site that layered hair is acceptable if the longest layer is 10 inches. Locks of Love makes hairpieces for children who suffer from alopecia areata.  A common misperception is that the hair is used for cancer patients.  That is rarely true.  In fact, they state that they do not do so because they consider hair loss from chemotherapy a temporary condition.  There is a lot of controversy about Locks of Love and how much of the donated hair is actually used.  Another option we're considering is Pantene Beautiful Lengths.  Pantene has partnered with the American Cancer Society to give wigs to women with cancer.  They require only 8 inches.

Other charities for kids with cancer are Wigs for Kids (requires 12 inches) and Wigs 4 Kids (requires 10 inches tip-to-tip).

Little dude, baby girl and I were near Stanford U. recently and discovered a new party place. Along with great haircuts - little dude got a great one - Snip-its offers parties that kids will never forget.  Choices include Glamour Party, Hollywood Party, Style Me and My Doll Party and the new Rock Star Party.

Owner Daniel Liberman could not have been more friendly and had a sincere passion for this place.  There are several Snip-its across the country but this is the only one in California.  See more in the video below.
